This is how Party For 1 rolls when Cinco de Mayo falls on a Monday. Well, at least a rainy day Monday that tries to get me down, especially following a weekend where I shared lots of time and space with cool cats in Brooklyn and a potential new partner. Time experienced after giving of yourself in social situations is the perfect time to invoke a Party For 1!
It feels natural to draw inward after extending outward. This is the natural ebb and flow of life. I gave out and now must recharge in. This is exactly why I created this blog. It visualizes or epitomizes my intention of recharging, re-energizing myself.
Self care has not come instinctually to me. I have felt compelled to keep giving and when feeling empty, reach in and give some more. But that is dysfunctional. And not sustainable. I created this blog to encourage myself to embrace my time alone and use it to sustain myself. This is a safe space for me to express myself and you the reader, to reply in any expression you desire.
I have had quite a few great examples of friends taking care of themselves and I appreciate these examples as they have fueled this writing. Some friends utilize exercise while other friends pamper themselves with pedicures or massages. There are many friends who go for hikes, while other friends go for swims. Some indulge in food, while others turn to sex. There is no right or wrong way to take care of yourself, as long as you are doing what your individual soul requires. This blog represents what I need to do for me in my alone time, and I am proud of its evolution. I hope it inspires you to take care of you!
