Taking Party For 1 to the Streets!

Taking Party For 1 to the Streets!

In honor of Miley Cyrus’ new song, “Flowers”, I met myself out at a bar tonight. The specific lyrics that inspired this action,

“I can buy myself flowers, Write my name in the sand
Talk to myself for hours, yeah
Say things you don’t understand
I can take myself dancin”…

The next line, “better than you can” isn’t applicable because I am not comparing self-care to the care I receive from many others. It’s not a perfect analogy for me, but any song that promotes us having our own backs is a win in my book! I think this might be the theme song for Party For 1!

The other inspiration for my outing is credited to my daughter, Kaylen, who insisted I go sit myself at the bar of The Copper Crow on Broadway in Albany. She has no idea she confirmed a previously conceived idea formulated on my way to work upon hearing the song. The decision did not disappoint.

Previously, I decided to make a local coffee shop my new ‘writing workshop’. The Copper Crow may win over this space. It’s both fun and inspiring to change the venue of writing. I will keep all options open, like my love life.

I chose my seat in front of the craft cocktail making section so I could witness all the action. I would have loved to order one but that would make me ineligible to drive and the cost of a ride home would quadruple my night out. And a beer did the trick just fine. I ordered the chowder to accompany the libations. The deliciousness was not something I could easily replicate.

The crowd was entertaining, especially a couple jokesters next to me. Well, they claimed to be funny. They were personable and friendly and I received handshakes and introductions before they left. Not a bad night, taking Party For 1 to the streets!
