September Writing Prompt – Possibilities for Joy!

This is your prompt: Consider all the unknown possibilities for joy. What will thrill you? What might you love that you don’t even know about yet? What are you certain there is more of?

My short answer, “All of it”, all of the unknown possibilities, even the ones I won’t like, those especially, because I will use them as data and then use that data, learn from it, and make different decisions in the future. I am certain there is more of everything, the possibilities are limitless and the results of decisions unfathomable. In the quantum world, superposition is where all possibilities exist until observed. I feel like I am existing in superposition, gathering data and maybe one day, I will finally choose a possibility and that will be Nirvana.

For now, I have stopped taking life and its ramifications as a personal assault on my happiness and instead accept what is in front of me; I exist in a state of peace. When I connect with my inner being, my soul, I find joy. There are life experiences that make it easier for this joy to flow and there are other experiences that challenge this flow. I choose to see these challenges as practice. Every chance to practice helps solidify the joy that resides in my soul no matter what the circumstances around me.

I can extrapolate from previous happenings what may thrill me in the future and I can boil this down to new experiences. While there are many experiences I would like to repeat like travel, boating and the ocean, I find new experiences the most exciting, simply because of the surprise factor. I will often say yes to a brand new food or experience in order to encounter something fresh and then I have additional data to process and use to learn about myself. If I stop having new experiences, I stop learning about myself. And this learning promotes my growth and evolution.

The last new food I tried is tamarind seed candy. It tasted savory with a dusting of sugar and had a chewiness to it. I tried this at a beach party I was invited to in Brooklyn with many people from different cultures. It was a completely new experience and what I noticed and felt most was community and love.
